The area called Hareidlandet, between Hareid and Ulstein, offers numerous hikes in a varied terrain. Two of the most popular routes are:
- Melshornet (668 m.a.s.l.), nice walk to the peak, mostly in open mountain terrain. Great view of the Storfjord, the Sunnmøre Alps and the islands on the coastline. Enter the trail from Hareid or Hjørungavåg.
- Skafjellet (573 m.a.s.l.), enter the trail from several places in Hareid. Easy to combine with other trails in the area. Also possible to walk across the mountain and go down to Ulsteinvik or Flø, and use public transportation back to Hareid.
A hiking map may be obtained at the Tourist Information in Ålesund or at the service desk at Hareid kommune (town hall).
