In the Geirangerfjord area large quantities of food are produced - both industrially and farm food on a small scale. In the restaurants and cafes you can buy top quality local food and many of the farms sell products such as berries, fruit, fruit juice, brawn, cheese, goat’s meat, mør (a form of preserved meat), preserved sausage, etc. Take the taste of the real Norwegian countryside away with you!

Strictly speaking it ought not to be so fertile here, a long way north
and with an inhospitable climate at times. But in the summer half of the
year the climate in the fjords is surprisingly mild and dry. Combined
with long daylight hours this leads to good growing conditions for
enterprising farmers. Food is produced in every village in the area.
Industrial
food production is also important, especially in Stranda Municipality.
There are several well known brand names here such as Ringdal and Tind.
Pizza Grandiosa, unquestionably Norway's most popular frozen pizza, is
also produced here!
Harvesting what nature has to offer is
important around Geirangerfjord. There are large salmon in the rivers,
trout jump in lakes and in the fjords you find cod, saithe, pollack and
other fish species. Out in the countryside berries and mushrooms are
plentiful and can freely be picked and enjoyed.
Welcome!
