On the saga island of Giske lies the beautiful Giske Church, which was built in marble around the middle of the 12th century. The church was originally built as a private chapel for a powerful aristocratic family.
A visit gives you a unique insight into Norwegian church history and art. Every other year it is possible to attend the historical ”Giske Play”, which tells the story of the aristocratic family and is staged in an outdoor amphitheatre right beside the church.
