The meeting between mountain and fjord in the Alps of Sunnmøre and in Geiranger is equally spectacular in summer and winter. There is probably nowhere else in the world with this unique combination. The snow clad mountaintops, the sharp, clear winter air, the views and the nature experience refresh both body and soul.

Whether you are seeking virgin powder snow, or well prepared tracks, the choice is wide. In the many mountains and valleys movement is largely unrestricted and you can explore the landscape for yourself. When the mountain lakes and the heads of the fjords freeze over, you can actually walk on water!
As well as using nature as it is, the area has a range of possibilities for those who wish to enjoy organised experiences and activities and prepared trails.
Many activities companies offer guided tours to the mountains and glaciers in the area. Experienced mountain guides with extensive local knowledge and a deep love of the countryside stand by to share it with you. You can also learn more about safety by taking climbing, glacier and avalanche courses run by these guides.
The many ski centres in the area offer good facilities for adrenaline seekers and families alike, whether you prefer cross-country, telemark, snowboarding, alpine or playing in the snow. The ‘Alpepass’ joint lift pass gives access to many skiing centres in the area, so that you can choose freely between centres and pick the best weather and snow conditions at all times.
